Will be back. Everything you need for a short get away or a long stay. Clean, well appointed. The host was the best.

Really needs a facelift, in terms of cable and internet.

Questions & Answers

I LOVED my visit as well. Most of the staff was TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it horrible? Jw

Not while admitted to the facility, no.

Depends on your insurance

I don't know but hopefully you will read my review and take my advice of finding almost ANY OTHER facility. It sounds like you need a REAL rehab center. St. Simons By The Sea is merely a detox jail. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AS YOU CAN, unless you have no other option. If you call them to get answers to your questions they'll sell you a bag full of lies. I was told that it was "like a nice hotel with doctors on site" and that there are lots of outdoor activities like tennis, and time to walk around the property during the day to contemplate sobriety, blah blah blah. I quickly found out after going through the doors from the front office to the facility, which lock from the outside, that playing tennis was going to be very difficult being as you're not allowed to have any kind of shoelaces, drawstrings, or anything that you or someone else in there might be able to hang them self with. Also there was no outdoor time unless you consider 4 times a day for the smokers.

My husband has been in and out of rehabs for 20 yrs. This was the best and last one he was ever in 5 yrs ago. Dual diagnosis is important. Substance abuse is frequently a mental issue; someone self medicating because they have underlying, untreated or unresolved issues. Depression and anxiety in my husband's case. It is a beautiful facility with a wing for adults, a separate wing for teens, etc. They literally had a 5 star chef and the meals were amazing. It is a place where you do get to go outside to smoke ( this is huge for smokers. It's hard enough to give up the drugs you love but giving up cigarettes at the same time makes rehab twice as hard as it would be). They did not use the cold turkey approach but rather tapered him down, then off. He was able to make and receive phone calls. I also had a 14 yr old granddaughter go for 30 days for severe depression & cutting herself along with suicidal thoughts. She's 18, graduating with 2 full college scholarship offers. Thank u St Simons
